Course Description:
Fundamental concepts and techniques of microbiology. The general principles of cell structure and function, classification and diversity of microorganisms, biochemical processes and the genetic basis of microbial growth and evolution. Four hours of lecture. I like to make these classes as much fun and challenging as possible. So I hope you too will enjoy the material we plan to cover. Sometimes, we won't stick precisely to the syllabus, and may have to shuffle things a little. Feel free to request lectures on other types of material. Prerequisite: BI 336 or equivalent. A study guide for the text is available on the web (http://cw.prenhall.com/bookbind/pubbooks/brock2/). Sometimes the lecture may cover additional material, or I may indicate in class which sections should be stressed or not stressed when you are studying for midterm and final examinations. In these cases, notes will be placed on this site as the course progresses. Last modified: Monday, April 30, 2001 |
