To determine the microbial diversity of two extreme environments: a terrestrial hot spring in Yellowstone National Park and in the highly alkaline gut lumen of caterpillars from the Area de Conservacion Guanacaste, Costa Rica using molecular phylogenetic techniques.

Current status? I finished my thesis research and graduated.

I will be starting on a PhD at Oregon State University this Fall (2003)
